For practice in Revit, I decided to rebuild a design that I had modeled in SketchUp last summer. The building is a Center for the Arts in College Station, TX. The design is based on a series of ramps that serve as both circulation and program space. They create a very open, interactive experience where visitors can see what is going on around them at all times.
The Revit modeling itself was a challenge, but definitely a learning experience!
I created a parametric shading device family which can be edited in multiple ways. Below is a (sorry very fuzzy) image illustrating some of the changes that can be made to the family. The shade was arrayed on my building to allow northern light in and filter the harsh western light.
